Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This represents his first title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Victory also means he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to win a championship is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.

His defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He rescued 4 initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
