Jon Ruben pleaded guilty to 17 charges at the judicial center on the end of the week

A man who laced treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two children who were between nine and ten.

Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.

The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.

However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.

The accused was held in detention prior to a subsequent court date on 28 November.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he managed.

The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the minors, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".

She stated to the judge the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "for many years", and children had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She said the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had concerns in recently.

The prosecutor continued: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, justifiably.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

The legal counsel said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his family member alerted the police about his suspicions.

She stated the defendant proceeded to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that evening - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.

"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she stated further.

The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating the police response of the events.

Mrs Prior said the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the family member contacted the police once more.

She explained Ruben then played the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
